Reality bites and for director Lino Cayetano, before its pangs bit deeper into his skin, he’d rather get loose from it to rid himself of further anxiety!

The director who was catapulted to celebrity status with the success of GMA 7′s first reality-based TV “Filipino-artista” search “Star Struck” has called it quits with his Kapuso station. Lino, since “Starstruck” has spawned another successful reality-based show called “Starstruck Kids” and even kicked-off ABC’s “Buhay Beauty Queen, Mutya ng Pilipinas,” a reality-based beauty pageant, left GMA because of conflict of interest. He is currently the director of “30 Days,” another reality-based TV series that aims to give a second chance to inactive actors and the episode “Pretty Boy” of GMA’s “Love 2 Love” series.

Though he once described his directorial job in “Love 2 Love” as a dream-come-true during the show’s press conference, the director justified his departure as a move to reach out for his dream.

He remarked via SMS: “It’s basically because from the beginning I wanted to grow with a station and feel part of the family. Despite the good showing of Starstruck, GMA didn’t want to give that kind of commitment. Nahirapan ako sa ganoon because I want to feel na mutual ‘yung commitment ng station at talent. It’s hard to work when every three months iniisip mo ano next show. I like planning long term, ganoon ang pinakita ng ABS-CBN sa akin… I wanted to do more than just reality TV.”

According to him, his work with ABS-CBN takes effect this September.

“My resignation is effective after three weeks so I can finish both shows first,” he said, referring to “30 Days” and “Pretty Boy.”

With his bold career move, Lino only hopes to make his dream come true in making drama series and even movies!

This surfaced when her real dad, a singer-musician based in Korea (from whom she inherited her musical genes), came home and met with her.

“But it’s not true he’s asking for a share of my earnings,” she says. “Ang totoo nga, binibigyan ko siya ng pera, pero tinanggihan niya. Kawawa nga because someone even wrote kinukuha raw ang condo unit na tinitirhan ko ngayon, which is also not true. We left Las Pinas and got a condo in Quezon City para mas convenient for me when I have tapings at the GMA-7 studios.”

Her parents separated when she was a little girl. “Unang nag-abroad ang dad ko. Eight years old ako when my mom left me to her sister (Lydia Mercado, who’s her constant chaperone now and who she considers as her real mom). Sa birth certificate ko po, I have my dad’s real family name, Pineda. Mercado is the family name of my mom (Lydia.)”

Her dad has no family in Korea but her mom now has a new one in London and they have no communication at all. Despite all these, Jennylyn considers herself so blessed after winning in “Starstruck.” She’s now in “Joyride,” “SOP Gigsters,” and in the new soap, “Forever in My Heart.” She’s also doing her first movie, “Que Sera Sera,” as Kris Aquino’s daughter.

In all these projects, she’s paired with co-winner Mark Herras. Are they now really going steady? “Hindi po. Mabait si Mark, malambing, a real gentleman. I’m really thankful na siya ang ka-love team ko because he’s really very supportive sa akin. Nang magsimula siyang manligaw sa akin, nagpaalam pa po siya sa mommy ko. But I told him we’re both so busy now na dapat lang na trabaho muna ang priority namin bago lovelife. Sayang naman ang opportunities na binibigay sa amin ng GMA-7.”

In “Forever in My Heart,” she plays Joey Bernabe, the niece of Ariel Rivera who gets involved with Mark, who plays Cris Sagrado, the brother of Regine Velasquez.
